Descriptions.
Autumn Treasure. A primocane variety. Has spinefree canes and large fruit. The canes are self supporting together with superb pest and disease resistance. Recommended for organic growing and could be a significant improvement on Autumn Bliss. Expect to be picking mid August to late September.
Joan J. Our second primocane variety and one which could be perfect for amateur growing! Superb flavour and stunning berry size make it second to none for picking and eating. Picking starts end July/early August and carries on for around seven weeks. Fruit freezes exceptionally well. The canes are spine-free. 'Joan J' photos below.

Polka. An exceptional recent introduction primocane autumn fruiter, ripening 10 days earlier than Bliss, giving heavier cropping potential. Superb variety.
The photo below is of Polka.
The three varieties above are all 'primocane' varieties. This means that they will crop on the current years growth and when picking ceases they can be cut down to the ground before the following spring. The varieties below are known as 'floricane' and carry fruit on the previous years growth. So when picking ceases on these varieties all the old fruiting canes can be cut out at ground level leaving the current years new growth to fruit the following year. There is some confusion when pruning of raspberries is mentioned but if you can remember, or better still, label your new canes when planting, hopefully you won't make the mistake of cutting the cane down when you shouldn't!
Glen Coe. This rather special variety is the result of a cross between a black raspberry and Glen Prosen. The deep rich purple fruits have a waxy bloom and an excellent intense flavour and, similar to the Black raspberries, makes superb jams, sauces and wine. Mid-season with yields comparable to red raspberries. The canes of Glen Coe are spine-free. It has good disease resistance but is difficult to propagate and availability is limited. Bred by Dr. Derek Jennings at SCRI. We have Glen Coe only available pot grown @ £12.00 each.
Malling Admiral. A strong growing floricane variety with good disease resistance & flavour.
Octavia. Named after the Roman month of August you'll be picking well into this month. Although the canes have spines the fruit is well presented and crops all the way to the base of the canes.
Tulameen. Produces very attractive, bright, glossy fruit with a distinct conical shape and excellent flavour. The canes are tall (up to 2m) but with few spines. It is worth mentioning that the new canes are late emerging in spring.
Valentina. An early season, apricot coloured, summer fruiting raspberry from EMR East Malling. Valentine is an exceptionally high yielding variety. The berries are medium to large with a bright and attractive pink-apricot colour. Flavour is good. Carrying only a few spines, Valentina produces tall upright canes and has excellent pest & disease resistance. Another floricane variety. Price £12.50 per 5 canes.
